Golden Warrior Nominee- Darius McVay!

Darius McVay

Matriculated from: Oak Grove Middle School

Future Path Plans: Attend Wheaton University in Chicago to play football and study religion and African American Studies

Favorite Subject: English- it's easy!

Most Challenging Class this Year: Spanish 2

Something he has always wanted: A chain that says D-Money. And Athlete of the Year

What he likes most about being a Warrior: Getting to beat other schools who think we're the worst.

Favorite Weekend Activity: Relaxing

One skill he could teach anyone: Press technique

If he could do high school all over again, the one thing he would change would be... Nothing. I regret nothing.

Best tip for success to Underclassmen: Get involved and remember "it's just high school." Grades are the only thing that matters.

His Top Contributions to the School and Community:
  • Ed Academy Leadership
  • 2 time 1st team all league Strong Safety
  • Volunteer work for campus for sporting events
  • Intern for elementary school
What he feels makes a great leader: Integrity, selflesness, and being quick to take the initiative

An example of a great leader: Mr. Palmer

Something that YVHS does really well: Supports and encourages their students

Two ideas to improve things here at YVHS: more public events and advertising for sports to come watch

Inspirational Figure: Chad Johnson (Ocho Cinco) because his lifestyle and attitude are just inspiring to me. Never seen a happier man that had the same dreams as I do.

One Staff Member he will never forget: Mr Lyon and Mr Palmer- they believed in me the most.

Quote of the Moment: "The furthest from finished are the ones who make it closest to their dreams."
